Type: Coal
STATUS: Project on hold
OPPOSITION: Sierra Club
PROSPECTS: Unlikely
BACKGROUND: The Global Energy Lima Energy IGCC project is 540-MW and is located on a 63-acre site in Lima, Ohio. It is a $775 million dollar facility. Construction and air permits were issued. Construction began in 2005. However, construction was halted in October 2006 due to financing concerns and the project has been delayed for years. The Sierra Club filed a lawsuit against Global Energy in January 2008 alleging that Global Energy is moving ahead without valid permits. The lawsuit is pending. Details are forthcoming. The project remains on hold due to financial concerns.

I live in the Lima, Ohio area. And this Globel Engery is a Big Joke here. Right now we are in the middle of a Mayor Race Election. It will be interesting to see what happens here if we get a new Mayor.
